driving the ambulance was a worker that came from california to help out during the storm. when they said they were headed to mt. sinai hospital, he said, how do you get there? and while navigating the streets, part of a tree came crashing down on the ambulance. they got there, and 40 minutes later, baby micah was born. so, how is micah? >> oh, he's beautiful. he's awesome. >> reporter: there are so many families like them, touched by the kindness, the bravery of others. >> there's no words i have to thank them for what they did for us. >> reporter: this mom and dad and their baby, just six hours old, were also carried out of that darkened hospital. >> pretty amazing. saw them just dripping with sweat and carrying women that couldn't walk down the stairs. >> reporter: you were the welcoming committee. >> that's right. >> reporter: this was the team waiting at lenox hill hospital, taking in patients. >> there's no practice for this, never. >> reporter: no practice, but perseverance and pride in what they were doing in those dark hours. happy ending, right? >> absolutely. it'

bush was going to win california. they spent millions and millions of dollars on advertising there. they sent bush out there, precious time, near the end of the campaign. i said, tad devine, carter, those of us involved in that campaign, so we're not spending one dime in california, and gore won the state by 1.3 million votes. the wish can't become father to the reality, which is what's going on here. >> like a team trying to talk their way to a championship instead of playing the game, so to speak. shouldn't romney have florida wrapped up? >> he should. he has a lot of -- there, he has structural advantages because he's got the governor and virtually all the statewide officials. but i think the medicare, and the republicans like to say, oh, we've countered it with this lie about a $716 billion cut under obama care, when in fact there is no such cut. there's no cut in benefits. i think that seniors have figured out two things. one, romney wants to replace medicare with voucher care. they don't like it. but isn't it the latino and the african-american turnout in southern florida that

we saw that the former ceo of ebay, meg whitman, in california spent $125 million of her own fortune and it didn't work. she lost the governorship to jerry brown who obviously spent a lot less. because you're spending this money doesn't mean that you're persuading voters to your point of view. >> to your point, we have an ad which is from americans for prosperity which imagines a future world in which china dominates the united states. it's a pretty ugly ad. >> yes. >> but it's also dumb. if you look at the front page of the "new york times" today, there's a story that says all the highly skilled people in china are actually leaving to go elsewhere. so it seems like a dumb ad in the likes of that analysis. >> plus, to offend your largest creditor, which clearly it's offensive as well and borderline racist -- >> zen o phobia never hurt some of these organizations. >> there's no reason to offend your largest creditor. we need to work with the chinese, we need to work with the japanese, we need to work with all the people who are financing our massive debt and not offend them in any way
